At a recent Primary Assembly, 53 students were presented with their Premier’s Reading Challenge certificates for 2012. It was terrific to see so many students from Classes Three to Six who had read their ten books; some students had finished more than 40 books for the term.
The Primary reading programme is very strong, with students in most classes keeping a reading log for the year. The injection of $1500 worth of books in the Book Week donation programme has provided many new titles across a range of genres.
Students in Classes Seven and Eight have also been encouraged to extend their reading experience by trying new genres, leading to a new appreciation of books of different styles and from different literary periods.
As the school holidays get closer, remember that your local LINC has lots of great books available for Summer. Happy reading!
